In the early 20th century, tobacco was in great demand. Many companies issued products, like cigars, into the marketplace. To differentiate their brand, they hired artists to design fancy labels for the boxes and the cigars themselves. Many names were also given to these brands and often these names were take from current events, history, or people. This label is an example of the art of the period. This label was created by Howard Chandler Christy (1873 - 1952). An American artist who worked for many magazines but he is also well know for his contributions to the war efforts through his poster art. "Christy Girl" was one of his most famous and best know creations. There is a border around the image. The image size is correct. Many sizes available.
