Product Overview

The cakewalk was first performed in minstrel shows and vaudeville acts originating from slaves in America where black performers copied traditional ballroom dances in a hyper-exaggerated way. It became extremely popular in Europe with white performers replacing the traditional African American roles. The dance found much success in the Parisian theaters. This poster was created by the Polish artists Franz Laskoff [FRANÇOIS LASKOWSKI] (Born in Poland, 1869-1921 and died in England). There is a border around the image. The image size is correct. Many sizes available.
