In 1922 A bulldog was inducted into the United States Marine Corps by General Smedley Butler as a result of the Germans of WWI giving the Marines the name "Teufel-Hunden" or Devil Dogs. The dog was promoted to Sgt shortly thereafter and was named Sergeant Jiggs. He was promoted to Sergeant Major. This first of a succession of bulldogs died in 1927 and was buried with full military honors at Quantico, Virginia. - There is a border around the image. Image size is correct. Many sizes available.
