Product Overview

Known as the father of the modern poster, Jules Chéret (1836 – 1932) was a French painter and lithographer. He worked on everything from theater to advertising. Here, the model, a "Cherette," is painting a shadow portrait of Adolphe Willette. The poster is an advertisement for an exhibition of the French artist's work. The cat is a nod to Willette who was a frequent contributor to the satirical publication, Chat-Noir. There is a border around the image. The image size is correct. Many sizes available.
