Product Overview

Leonetto Cappiello (9. April 1875 in Livorno, Italy – 2. February 1942 in Cannes, France) was an Italian poster art designer who lived in Paris. He is now often called 'the father of modern advertising' because of his innovation in poster design. This magical poster by Cappiello dates from 1906, and reveals an ingenious poster solution. A playfully devilish statue of a satyr comes to life, drinking a glass of Menthe-Pastille, a digestive tonic flavored with peppermint. Dusk has fallen over this shadowy wooded scene - one of the most beautiful backdrops found in Cappiello's work - adding an air of mystery and enticing the viewer to delve deeper into this arresting image. The message, that the restorative powers of the tonic are strong enough to bring a statue to life, is unforgettable. There is a border around the image. The image size is correct. Many sizes available.
